Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India, 03 May 2009 – Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh has expressed deep sorrow at, Chhattisgarh state's famous play writer, director and renowned theater artist, Mr. Prem Simon's sudden demise in Bhilai Nagar today. In a message issued in the Chhattisgarh capital Raipur, Dr Singh said, the news of passing away of Mr. Simon was the end of a golden era in Chhattisgarh(i) regional theater.
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said that composer of popular Chhattisgarhi plays like 'Kari', 'Lorik Chanda', 'Hareli' and 'Murgi Wala' late Mr. Simon has given voice to nation’s, including Chhattisgarh’s common man's pain and sorrow through the stage with his above compositions. In his Natya (play) writing feelings and emotions of Chhattisgarh’s hardworking son of soil (Mehanatkash Maati Putra) has especially got the voice. By writing screen play of popular Chhathisgarhi films like “Pardesi Ke Maya” and “Kari” he has also contributed to development of Chhattisgarhi cinema.
Dr. Raman Singh said that the long contribution of late Mr. Simon, in the development of Hindi and regional cinema, Chhattisgarhi theater will be remembered forever. Dr Raman Singh expressed condolences for bereaved family of late Mr. Simon and have prayed to God for the peace of his departed soul.

रायपुर, 03 मई 2009 - मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. रमन सिंह ने राज्य के प्रसिध्द नाटय लेखक, निदेशक तथा रंगमंच के जाने माने कलाकार श्री प्रेम साइमन के आज भिलाई नगर में हुए आकस्मिक निधन पर गहरा दु:ख प्रकट किया है। डॉ. सिंह ने राजधानी रायपुर में जारी शोक संदेश में कहा है कि श्री साइमन के निधन से छत्तीसगढ़ के प्रादेशिक रंगमंच के एक सुनहरे युग का अंत हो गया।
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि 'कारी', 'लोरिक चंदा', 'हरेली' और 'मुर्गी वाला' जैसे लोकप्रिय नाट्कों के रचयिता स्वर्गीय श्री साइमन ने अपनी इन रचनाओं के माध्यम से रंगमंच के जरिए छत्तीसगढ़ सहित देश के आम आदमी के दु:ख दर्द को वाणी दी। उनके नाटय लेखन में छत्तीसगढ़ के मेहनतकश माटी पुत्रों की संवेदनाओं और भावनाओं को विशेष रूप से आवाज मिली। उन्होंने 'परदेसी के मया' और 'कारी' जैसी लोकप्रिय छत्तीसगढ़ी फिल्मों की पट-कथाएं लिख कर छत्तीसगढ़ी सिनेमा के विकास में भी अपना योगदान दिया।
डॉ. रमन सिंह ने कहा कि हिन्दी और छत्तीसगढ़ी रंगमंच तथा आंचलिक सिनेमा के विकास में स्वर्गीय श्री साइमन के लम्बे योगदान को हमेशा याद रखा जाएगा। डॉ. सिंह ने स्वर्गीय श्री साइमन के शोक संतप्त परिवारजनों के प्रति अपनी संवेदना प्रकट करते हुए दिवंगत आत्मा की शांति के लिए ईश्वर से प्रार्थना की है।
